Have you given full permissions to the folders AND to the shares?
what about trying removing the hidden ($) from the shares? (just to see if any different).
does the domain appear on the XP's logon drop down box?
If so, what message do you get trying to log on? And Is your first logon as a domain
administrator? (I find it often won't let me log on as user until first logged on
as domain administrator).
I've never had these permissions problems with 2k3 - apart from accidentally not
setting permissions somewhere (like on the folder and the share) - though I don't
use hidden shares for profile & home folders.
