We recently migrated our w2k3 SBS server to w2k3 Standard using a MS SBS Transition
Pack. This all went smoothly (for a change) however since doing so we've noticed
the System Volume Infomation folder (on the system partion - ie: c:\) is now over
2gb in size. As I understand the system volume information folder is where restore
points are saved. This maybe true for XP & Vista but I wasnt aware 2003 had/used
restore points? If it does I certianly cant find any evidence for this. My next thought
was, maybe shadow copies utilises the system volume info folder however shadow copy
has been disabled on this partition as we dont share data from the system volume.
If i browse the folder i can see large (ie: up to 800mb) .cl & .ps2 files. With
this being our only DC at the moment i am reluctant to delete these files! Any suggestions
would be appreciated!
ps - why do Dell pre-confgure there servers with small system partitions, 12gb just
isnt enough thesedays!
