appleoddity, thank you for that information, however. my linksys router has the capibility of forwarding the external ports to the internal network, like lets say i wanna have port 80 open on server 1 and port 25 to be open on server 2 and then port 8080 to be redirected to port 3389 to server 3 and 3389 to be open to server 3 as well. can i do port forwarding and port redirection using windows server 2003? how secure will it be? i am a bit concerned with the security of windows when it comes to connecting the internet directly to the computer. also, it appears that my internet connection ip address has been the same for more than 1 year on my linksys router. when i connect it directly to the server, i get a different ip address. will setting the same static ip work?
