I'm having a very similar problem - right around 5pm. Not sure if it's happening
every day, but it happens often and I'm just realizing it's impacting most (if not
all) of my users. It's hard to tell since most people are leaving around that time.
I'm currently researching Group Policy Refresh rates as a possible culprit, but that
is supposed to be avoided throught the use of a variable update interval. I wondered
if you found the cause of your problem yet?
