Ok.. This is probably incorrect. This is because the DHCP server is not providing
the proper IP information.
Lets do this. On a workstation go to a command prompt (click start -> run -> type
'cmd' and press ENTER) then type 'ipconfig /all' and press ENTER - we are interested
in what the DHCP server IP address is, as well as the DNS and gateway IP addresses.
Post back with those and I can clarify exactly what is happening and how to configure
it.
In order to set your server properly, you would go into network connections and modify
the TCP/IP properties of your LAN adapter. This is the location where you were able
to determine that it has a static IP. For DNS do not let it obtain automatically.
Tell it to use 127.0.0.1, and let it use the static IP of 192.168.1.7 like you previous
posted.
Please post back with that IP information so I can determine exactly how you need
to configure things. Who provides your internet connection and what make/model is
the gateway device? The gateway device would most likely be a router on a small network
such as a d-link, or linksys that connects to a cable/dsl internet connection and
shares it with the office.
