Hi, I'm having the same issue on a windows 2000 adv server setup. I have one DC called
"Exodus" and another similarly configured server called "Genesis2" that I'm trying
to DCPROMO. I keep getting DNS error issues when doing the DC Promo, it can't find
the DC.
DNS is running and AD integrated, yet the NSLOOKUP trick tells me:
C:\>nslookup exodus
*** Can't find server name for address 192.168.2.10: Non-existent domain
*** Can't find server name for address 192.168.2.1: Non-existent domain
*** Default servers are not available
Server: UnKnown
Address: 192.168.2.10
Name: exodus.server607.com
Address: 192.168.2.10
Not sure where to go now.
