I started IIS and the default administration website on Genesis2. Then I tried running DCPROMO... and it ran without a hitch. So, on the server being promoted, IIS and the Default Admin site must be running. I discovered this because I remembered back 5 years ago when I built genesis2, I had Terminal services running on it. Just for the heck of it, I tried to TS into it and I couldn't.. so I investigated the reason, found those services stopped... started them, and then for the heck of it I said to myself... Let's try DCPROMO again. Thanks for all your suggestions... Thos at least straightened out dns issues on my little domain here.
