I'm trying to overwrite the existing trusted site zone(IE ->Tools->internet options->security ->trusted sites. I'm unable to add the new urls into the trusted sites zone. The "add button" and respective "field" has been disabled. Would like to know how can i enable it.

The settings you mention are routinely disabled by network personnel (through the Group Policy mechanism). The usual justification for this is that certain malware applications add themselves to that list. If you're not on a network, then I can't imagine how the options were disabled.
