AD/IIS Problem

Hi - I'm new here, so if I do anything stupid, please let me know.

My boss & I are configuring a Dell PowerEdge 2950 server for installation at a customer
site. Server 2003 R2 comes pre-installed. Our normal procedure is to install IIS+ASP,
SQL Server and then promote the server to a domain controller.

This time, on a brand-new system, the reboot after installation takes a LONG time
and eventually tells us that some services are not started/working correctly.
Perusing the event log tells us that the IIS IUSER and IWAM users have not been created.
If we demote the system and install IIS/ASP, there are no errors - but it still
soesn't create the IUSER/IWAM users.

We've gone so far as to do a fresh 2003 install - to no avail. Bear in mind that
we have 5 other servers deployed to this customer's other sites, all created by the
procedure outlined above, all working just fine.

One thought that I had was that we're deploying 2003 R2 Standard Edition - is there
a limit on the number of domain controllers there? As I said, there's already 5
plus the PDC that we host - could this be it?

At any rate, any help from the community would be greatly appreciated - Microsoft
doesn't acknowledge that the error we're getting (104) exists.

Thanks!

Mark

Completely uninstall IIS, everything. Install .NET framework then install IIS, ASP.NET, etc...try that.
