i'm stumpped. about a year ago a power surge caused the mother board to go on my server. ever since we replaced it the program tends to freeze or lockup causing the system to have to be rebooted. originally we were running a highpoint 133 pci card feeding 2 80gig hard drives. we have replaced every piece of hardware and software except the power supply, the a drive, 1 cable and the case in an effort to cure this. sometimes it runs for a few minutes before lockup and sometimes days. the same drive runs fine in a non mirror machine or when we bypass the raid card. we've reinstalled 2003 using a different disc thinking it had a corrupt file on the cd. nope. reinstalled and updated all device drivers. nope. even put new hard drive in. nope. i have no hair left and my local tech support just gave up today also. i'd be glad to provide any information to help solve the problem.

Hi. Surely it would be a good idea to replace the power supply considering you had a power surge in the first place, and strong enough to damage other parts of the system!

another tech says it's the new motherboard with the via chipset. he's seen it before but you have a point. i'll replace it when i install the new board.

I agree, if your Via Mobo has raid onboard then you can have problems, try this site if you problems persist. http://forums.viaarena.com/categories.aspx?catid=20&entercat=y
