Outlook Express is not authenticated by windows server 2003 POP3 service (can't receive mail)

I am working on a school assignment where I need to set up an internal POP3 mails service for users in an Active Directory network. The server is a domain controller. The server name is erik, and the domain name is ingeberg-itskolen.mcp

In order to do this, I installed the mail server service (POP3/SMTP) using the configure your server wizard.

In Administrative tools, POP3 service, I added a new domain called ingeberg-itskolen.mcp

I created two new mailboxes, one for the Administrator account, and one for a user who has logon name ErikIng. The mailboxes where given the same name as the user names, and the tick to create a new account was removed.

In Outlook Express, the mail account is set up, mail address is set to administrator@ingeberg-itskolen.mcp (for the other user: eriking@ingeberg-itskolen.mcp), incomming mail server and outgoing mail server is set to erik.ingeberg-itskolen.mcp and the password entered is the same as the one in active directory.

If I send a mail from administrator@ingeberg-itskolen.mcp to eriking@ingeberg-itskolen.mcp, I can see the mail in the C:\Inetpub\mailroot\Mailbox\ingeberg-itskolen.mcp\P3_eriking.mbx folder. But when I click send / receive e-mail, I get a pop up called: Logon - erik.ingeberg-itskolen.mcp with username and password (both correct). When I click ok, nothing happens, when I click cancel, I get the following error message:

There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: 'erik.ingeberg-itskolen.mcp', Server: 'erik.ingeberg-itskolen.mcp', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Logon Failure', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

I have been trying to solve this problem for days, please help me!
