My data drive (400gb) for my database (legal files/photos/video) is out of space.
I need more room. I want to put in 1tb drives but it requires pci-express raid
sata card (my server has no sata connections) but my server board does not have a
pci-express slot. Pci raid sata controller my not run drives over 750gb let alone
1tb.
I need more room, what is best? Offsite, new server, new mainboard, ??? Help!

There are no size limits to PCI based SATA or PATA controller cards. If your not
using the card to boot to Windows, you can setup the drives in any RAID configuration
you like within Windows using the supplied RAID software that comes with the card.
Good luck!

Connect Hard drives any way your system allows you to (PATA, SATA, SCSI, whatever
fits the system), convert the drive(s) in Disk Managment from basic to dynamic, and
Server 2003 lets you create RAID 0, 1 and/or 5 configurations (RAID5 depends on the
number of drives ofcourse)
