Network Drive / Share issue on External Drive

I have a 1.5 TB external drive that is connected to server TURNER via a USB cable.
The drive was formatted NTFS and assigned drive letter X:. The drive is shared full
control for the group Domain Admins. On drive X:, I have a folder named Turner-Files
that has inherited rights full control for the group Domain Admins.

The problem I have that no one in the Domain Admins group can access the drive via
\\TURNER\Turner-Files. They can access it via \\TURNER\X$\Turner-Files and I'm not
sure why. I even tried assigning full control rights at the folder level to Domain
Admins but still no luck.

Does it have something to do with the external drive? Thanks.

It was NTFS file permissions that weren't set up properly. Once I set the folder
permissions to Full Control for Everyone, everything worked fine.
