Cannot add new users to Active Directory

Just tried to add a new user with the Actice Directory Users & Computers but get
the error message:
'Windows cannot create the object Test2 because:
The directory service was unable to aloocate a relative identifier'
Anyone have any ideas??

you could try right-clicking on a similar user, select copy, this will bring up a
new account with identical permissions. Once you are done putting in the personal
info for test2, reopen to make adjustments to this account's permissions.

Thanks for the reply - but, no, that didn't work - same error unfortunatly.

Thanks not sure if that will help though - the server was restored from a backup
a few months ago because the RAID array failed - there was no temp RID Master domain
controller used just restored the server and restarted it....
