When that one service fails the others shutdown. However, the service is crashing, not being stopped, most likely. This event will be found in the event log, and that is where you start your investigation. Go from there to solve your problem. The event will tell you that the service has shutdown unexpectedly and tell you why. You think there is a potential that you have a virus so you installed a windows update? Service Pack 2 already has the update, thats why you can't install it. You've just done some drastic things to your box for no reason at all.
