Computer names

I hope someone can help with a small problem( i hope)

I have a windows 2003 machine setup as a dc, file and dns server in a domain.
There are 17 machines connected to it that were all named after the users. I have
since changed the names to workstation01 - 17. This is all fine but when i look at
the shared folders mmc and look under the sessions folder all the computer names
have the new name but some have .mydomainname.com after them others just have there
( i assume) netbios name.

When i look under DNS all the computers are shown with ther new names.

Has anyone got any ideas as to why this is.

Thanks
    Gareth

I'm not exactly sure why this is, but rather the machine is listed with its NETBIOS name (i.e. "workstation01") or its DNS name (i.e. workstation01.yourdomain.com) it should not cause any difference in operation. Both "addresses" are the same machine. Are you having an issue related to this?
