Setting up Wireless Access to my Server?

I have a Dell server running Windows Server 2003 for Small Business Server. After it was up and running for a while I bought an external Linksys Wireless-G adapter and after installing and configuring it, my server can access the internet, e.g. I can launch a browser and reach the web. Unfortunately, none of my other home PCs and laptop can access my server via wireless.

What's the quickest and easiest way to provide access to files and printers on the server, and to applications (Lotus Notes) running on the server via wireless to other valid users of my home wireless network? Thanks very much!

I don't get what you are saying. Are you saying you added a linksys wireless adapter to the server and now have it connected to your network wirelessly? Why would you connect the server to your network wirelessly if it was previously hardwired? It makes no difference if you connect it wirelessly or hardwired, except that hardwired is much preferred over wireless for reliability. I can't see any possible reason to ever have a server connected wirelessly. All your other devices can connect either wirelessly or with a wire. The server doesn't have to be "wireless" for the other devices to be "wireless." As long as everyone connects to the same network. Did you also add a wireless router to the network, or did it already exist? I can't really answer your question because the information was rather vague. Can you explain, in more detail, the setup you have on your network.

Thanks very much for the reply. I have a2003 Small Business server set up in my home office. I used to be able to access it directly via 10baseT cable with an older laptop - I just set the laptop's Local Area Network settings to match the server's - same subnet mask and an IP address that was very close to the servers.

My new laptop cannot access the server via 10baseT cable - I don't know why but it just doesn't see the server, can't ping it, can't access it at all.

I'd like to leave my server up and running with my printer attached to it so anyone in my house with the requisite credentials could wirelessly log in to the server and print, access files, etc., so I have to be able to set up my laptop to access the server via wireless, but that doesn't work either. The IP addresses the server ands the laptop get from my Verizon wireless router are very close but although my server can SOMETIMES ping the laptop, the laptop can never ping the server, login, map to a server drive, etc.

I'm considering wiping out the server and starting from scratch but I didn't get the media with the server - unless I can set up wireless access I guess I have to call Dell and ask how I'm supposed to be able to reinstall 2003 on the server.

Jesse

Ok.. Lets clear up one thing so I'm not confused. You are saying 10baseT cable. This is an older technology only capable of 10Mbps and has been replaced for years by 100Mbps or 1000Mbps connections. Is this just a term you are using to tell me you were using an ethernet cable to hook the laptop up? I'm asking because you are having network trouble so I have to have the details. Also, in your post it could be misinterpreted and could sound like you are plugging your laptop directly into the server with an ethernet cable? I need to verify that what you really mean is that you have a verizon wireless router, and the server is plugged into that router, and the laptop is plugged into that router?
