bridge loopback device

To run X-windows under emulated openvms, I'm instructed to create a bridge between a loopback device and my NIC. I've created the loopback device, it shows up in device manager, but it doesn't show up in "network configurations" (I'm running windows xp pro, but am asking here because I think someone is more likely to know the answer here), so I can't select it to create a bridge. Do you know how I can cause it to show up there so I can select it, or some other way to create a bridge between the loopback and my one NIC?
