Copy AD instead of Replicate

I'm wondering if it's possible to copy an Active Directory instead of using replication?
I've got a problem with DNS which is causing my replication to fail. I would like
to copy AD while I trouble shoot the problem. Is this possible?

I use tinydns and not Microsoft DNS. It seems there are some DNS extensions that
Microsoft uses which are not allowing the two AD servers to identify each other although
they I can ping one to the other without any trouble.
How do you make sure one is a master?

While you can export the LDAP entries, this is only helpful as a backup, you cannot
import them in another server. You should try to fix the issues using replmon. Also,
not using Microsoft's DNS service is asking for trouble. You can very well set it
only for the AD, and configure the Linux/BSD machine as slave for the zone.
