Adobe Reader troubles

Adobe Reader v 9.0 downloaded w/o issues, installer completed and ICONS are on desktop and work fine to launch reader. Problems are when you try and open a PDF link inline with IE, FireFox and Opera. The page remains white, error box shows "error" only and browser hangs on opening. Saving the 'link' to the PDF and then opening it off line works only with the Reader program, not from within IE or FireFox. Any clues? Charles
