Sound problems Dell GX520 XP pro

Dell GX 280 3 gb RAM, Intel dual core 29992 MHz. Dual boot XP and Win 7. When I try to open a video (AVI, MPG, etc) the computer freezes up. I can't use the mouse or keyboard so I have to use the on/off switch to reboot. The multimedia is onboard OEM but it doesn't even list a video card, just SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio (Dell OEM Sound). Video plays OK on the system in XP. Wondering if I need to upgrade the video card or find drivers?

I installed a new hard drive - Seagate 1TB and now I can't get the sound to work. I checked device manager and it tells me "The device is working" on all of my sound codecs and devices. I tried downloading drivers from Dell and Intel but nothing happen
