I have burnt the iso of windows 7 to a DVD. And, now would like to install windows
7 on an external HD. This is connected to my computer which has Vista (HP) on.
Reading the installation notes. Once the DVD drive has been set to boot from, the
process will be as follows:
Install Windows Page>Install Now>Important Updates>License Terms>Which Type - custom>
this then deals with installing on a partition on the main HD, or for 'Drive Options
(Advance)' creating, extending ... a partition there too.
See this URL:

However, I want to be able to install to an external HD, therefore leaving Vista
intact. After a successful installation of Windows 7. I intend to dual-boot between
the two versions of windows.
Has anybody tried this and so is aware that it is possible to install to an external
HD? For instant, when defining the type of installation. Is it possible to opt for
an external HD? Alternatively, once I have reached the chose of the type of installation.
Is it now too late to abort the process without affecting the installed version of
Vista on the HD? :)
