windows 7 won't load Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 11:43 am Windows 7 Annoyances Discussion Forum Posted by silverback (1 messages posted) gateway GM5485e. i wiped the hard drive, then with a cd upgrade, attempted the install. first, couldn't find dvd drive, can't access external drive for drivers. checked bios, changed achi drives to ide, dvd is atapi, should have loaded. scoured web for generic cd/dvd driver, finally pulled one from driver store on the windows 7 upgrade disk. that took me to where 7 can't find my hard drive. (Hitachi HDT725040vla360) i've attempted as ahci, ide, ide with advanced, ahci with standard, with and without s.m.a.r.t. i can load things to a thumb drive and get it to read, but can't get the right drivers. help! i'm advising others to install right over the old after backing up and deleting their own files. am i doomed?
