Well, whadda ya know? Late yesterday, the system (W7) finally "learned" what was going on and stopped acting like they'd just been plugged in on every re-boot. Therefore, the utility (Creative Elements) began working on those 2 USB-attached drives. And, yes, the 2 drives always had letters assigned by the OS. Problem solved and like so many times before I have no idea how. === NashvilleKit
