You seem to forget that while you may own the hardware to your system, you do not
'own' Windows when you purchase it; you are merely buying a licence to use it and
they can still do with it whatever they wish.

The problem is that 'Trusted Installer' is running at a higher level than Administrator.
It is running at System Level. There is a way around this, and I have a feeling I'll
be rediscovering it soon, as I am finding I can't stand the lack of a real menu system
with Windows 7. There is CSMenu 0.9, but almost as soon as I installed it, it gave
errors and died. After using Windows since Windows 3.1, and DOS before that, I really
am having a hard time believing that MS thinks that this is a good way to leave things.
I used the beta, the RC, and now have a copy of Ultimate, but it sucks that there
is no EASY way to return to at least the default XP menu system. I'll get back here
with the method to alleviate your problem.

WOW! What a helpful post. Why even waste yours, and more importantly, OUR time?

I agree I to find it very annoying that windows 7 does not alow the administrator
to do everything, I find there are folders that I used to go to in XP to find info
I wanted to know, now I cannot even read the contents of those folders. Why? Does
Microsoft have the courage to tell us what they have done to prevent us from doing
or seeing, and why they are doing it.?
If I can't have full control over what the OS can do, I think I have a very strong
incentive to dump Windows and begin learning another OS.
I am not amused by being restricted in the use of the OS after having been charged
a heavy premium for that OS.
I hope someone can find a way around this ridiculous obstruction presented to
us by Microsoft.

I had to fiddle around to find the correct files and lines cited, but, in the
end, I was able to delete the folder with no problem -- after being warned about
administrative authority, etc. So, not every system has the second level of security
you mentioned.
I have a question, though. Can I just uninstall the whole Microsoft.NET
Framework section of my system? Or is it inextricably aligned with other things
I'll need?

.net wasn't the success predicted but a few apps need it.
The easiest course to find out if you need it is crude but effective ! Take it
out and see if any apps have issues - for most people they won't, and W7 will not
be affected.
Then, if any apps complain, reinstall it, which is also easy.
