I've installed windows 7, and having problems with it remembering desktop settings and also the time. The hour is usually off, maybe 1 or 2 hrs. Not impressed so far.... Thank you

Make sure you have your region setting correct for the clock.

My Win7 has been running well. Today inexplicably I noticed the time was exactly
4 hours slow. I synchronized with a time server and now it's okay. Actually I synchronized
with the default windows time server. It reported an error, but the time got set
right anyway.

I haven't changed the desktop, so I haven't had any problems with that.
