folder change sound half works

i recently went from win xp x64 to win7 x64 and i'm having a bit of an issue with
directory opus (file manager) playing the change folder sound.
i use an older version of dopus (v8.2.2.5), not a big fan of the newer versions.
i also use foobar2000 to play my music
normally dopus won't play the folder sound, but if i press play then pause in foobar
the folder sound works fine (if i use the stop button in foobar then it doesn't play
the folder sound)
anyone have any idea of how i could make dopus always play the sound (other than
upgrading it)?
