IE8 problems / unstable on Windows 7 64bit

IE8 is opening webpages in the first tab only. Also if I hover over or click on the safety tab it hangs. I have tried the 32 & 64 bit versions of IE, plus the version with no addons. I have tried uninstalling & reinstalling IE. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Flash, Shockwave & Java (32 & 64 bit). I have done a full scan with KIS 2009 and searched online for a solution with no joy. Using Chrome for now but this is really bugging me, any ideas???

Tip: Run a free scan for common Windows errors ad

I thought I was the only one having this type of problem. I first installed Win 7 on the wife's machine. She could not open a new tab, and IE often hung. I eventually did a clean install of Win 7 and things settled down a bit. Now I have problems with Tabs not opening right away.

Doesn't chime with the advertising: "View driving directions, translate words, email your discoveries on the web to others, and more in just a few mouse clicks. Complete your everyday browsing activities more quickly with the new Accelerator feature." They missed out "make dinner, clean the house, take a shower whilst waiting for that lightning quick response". There's even a "Compatibilty View button" for when it doesn't work - what more could you want ? Maybe a handy "Uninstall button" would be the logical addition in the next version.

Similar issues here (clean 64W7 Pro): IE8 hangs intermittently. But having switched to Firefox I have not seen any issues in the past 2 weeks (fingers crossed)...

I think I found my answer. Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 came out with a Rev B update to their software on December 3. This seems to have cleared everything up. I hope.
