Each time I log into Windows, the "Getting Started..." window pops up. Anyone know how to turn it off?

Isn't there a little square box in the lower left corner to check that disables that?

Googled it, I guess I was wrong - Click on Start and select Control Panel. - In Control Panel, select User Accounts. - Click on the link that says "Change the way users log on or off." - Disable the checkbox next to "Use the Welcome Screen." - Click Apply Options.

This may work for other versions of Windows, but for Windows 7 there is no such option. Any more ideas? Thanks!

run msconfig, startup tab, there is an entry for a Microsoft Windows Operating System entry with a command that ends "ShowWelcomeCenter LaunchedBy_StartMenuShortcut" Remove its preceding check mark, and this foolishness will end.

SOLVED! Thank you. I looked in msconfig for something like that in the beginning, but for some reason I overlooked that entry. Should have looked at the commands. Thanks again.

Delete the following key from the registry, this way you also avoid the "windows has started in selective startup mode" messages: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg\WindowsWelcomeCenter] "key"="SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Run" "item"="WindowsWelcomeCenter" "hkey"="HKCU" "command"="rundll32.exe oobefldr.dll,ShowWelcomeCenter" "inimapping"="0" "YEAR"=dword:000007da "MONTH"=dword:00000003 "DAY"=dword:00000005 "HOUR"=dword:00000010 "MINUTE"=dword:0000002f "SECOND"=dword:0000001b
