A better, more permant solution {in win98} is start\run type:msconfig click ok then
in microsoft configuration utility click startup(furtherest right tab@top) uncheck
any/all identifiable app that you don't want to run @ startup i.e. any aol or realplayer
app. WARNING some things in here need to run & are best left running they are scanreg, loadpowerprofile(s),
ALL ANTI-VIRUS & FIREWALL & video card apps best rule of thumb: if your not sure
don't uncheck Remember, just because it improves preformance & dosn't "seem" to affect
system boot capabilities dosn't mean it cannot be hamfull to uncheck, example: unchecking
scanreg removes the system's utility to constantly scan the registry for errors &
backup daily registry setting's , somthing you may REALLY need some day in the future...
after doing this click apply then o.k. system will want to reboot for effecting your
changes & if you dont like the result's simply go back to msconfig & recheck the
unchecked item's
