A common problem with Win95/98 PCs with Lan cards - all you have to do is give the
card an IP address. Go to network from control panel and go to the TCP/IP properties
of the Lan card - then click specify an IP and enter 192.168.1.X where X is any number
other than 1, and enter 255.255.255.0 for the subnet mask.
The reason why it takes so long is because Windows assigns it a new IP every time
you boot. Good luck
