i'm not certain what you mean by "MS-DOS" compatibility. can you explain? when the machine boots-up it does so in DOS before i see the actual Windows95 screen, it gives me a bunch of information at boot up about the "A" drive being installed, and also "ATAPI Toshiba ...." which is the cd-rom i also downloaded MSN-Explorer onto this system. download went well, but everytime i try to log on, i'll "either" get to the "Welcome" screen b4 the system freezes, or the computer will just shut-down. any reasons why this may be happening. although i am not an avid "AOL" fan, this is the only way to get on line through this system. i'm stumped. continued help from you and others would be greatly appreciated. thank you for being so patient, i'm still in the computer learning stage. any responses? please ev
