You most likely have a proprietary drive. I also have a packard hell piece of **** that I'm toying with and these drives can be a major pain. These are not normal IDE drives and must be routed through the sound card interface. In order to install this cdrom again from dos after formatting you must create a boot disk and then run the installation program from the boot disk to install both the sound card and cdrom. The CDRom model# in my machine is CR - 563 and it's an old Matsushitsa - Kobawhateverbo or something such. You most likely have the same one. If you are interested in these drivers still, I am just about to try some I found on driverguide and will be happy to email them to you if you are interested. These old machines do suck....but when ya get em free and you can make em Internet ready for a relative...who's to argue.
