thanks al that was an excellent site and explained all i needed to know . I used winimage to reformat all the floppies to 1.7 meg (allowing all the win95 system files to be copied to floppy and then put them on the non cdrom laptop. Now all is well and windows 95 is installed. Thanks again for your speedy response and help Ian
