Happy note!
I formatted the C: drive from the backup disk I made years ago (Thank you to a friend
who insisted I do that). I then rebooted the PC with the factory disk in the floppy
and CDROM and... voila! Factory restore! Thank you for putting your time and thoughts
to my question.
