Free online cd-rom from AOL

I do not know much about computors, but my friend recieved a free AOL trial cd in
the mail. She just bought the computor. Does she need to get a dial up service first.
She put in the disc and it asks for a password but nothing happens. She is not hooked
up for any dial up service yet. What does she have to do first? Thank you so very
much!! Need help..
