I have windows 98 1st edition and recently when I booted up I had this error message
(invalid system disk, please remove floppy and hit any key to continue) Well, nothing
happened when I hit any key and rebooting did nothing so I formatted and reloaded
the operating system. Since then when I try to use power management it shuts the
computer off instead of going into standbyThe amber light stays on and when I hit
a key or move the mouse it wakes up again. It used to just power down now it's turning
the whole thing off. Also when I go to shut down the machine, I get the screen where
it says (it's now safe to shut your computer off) but it automatically goes into
standby mode where it powers down but, you cant wake it up at all. And to actually
turn the machine off I have to hit the power button. I have since formatted the operating
system 3 more times and still the same thing. I have also tried removing the power
management and reinstalling it and also run system file checker and I am still getting
the same thing. I have since disabled power management and am now able to shut the
machine down normally. I always use power management and would like to know how to
fix this problem.....as I said I have formatted 3 times, removed and reinstalled
power management 3 times and run Sfc, I even ran the power management troubleshooting
utility that came with the windows disk and even thats telling me everything is ok.
PLEASE HELP!
