3 things:
1) Make sure your BIOS recognizes that the CD drive is "seen" on an IDE channel (master
or slave, primary or secondary).
2) Modify config.sys on the boot diskette and add a line similar to the one below:
DEVICE=C:\ASUSCD.SYS /D:ASUSCD01
your CD drive must have a driver. you can copy it to the root of C:\ and "point"
to it as shown above. When you find the driver for your CD, hopefully, you will
also find a "readme" file that will give you the precise syntax for the config /
autoexec statements.
if you don't have a config.sys file on boot diskette, create one with an ascii text
editor.
3. modify AUTOEXEC.BAT by adding the following line:
C:\MSCDEX.EXE /D:ASUSCD01 /V
You can get mscdex.exe from just about anywhere, and place it in the root of C:\.
Substitute my ASUS CD references for your own CD drive.
