windows 95: windows protection error during startup

i just installed windows 95 onto my old computer, and when it gets 1/2 way throught
booting up(it gets to th ewindows 95 clouds screen) it goes black and says
- while initializing device IOS: windows protection error. you need to restart you
r computer, i do this all th time and every time i restart it does the same thing,
any help would b appreciated.
