To apply the patch (or to get around having to make the patch), you may slow your machine down by changing the fsb/multiplier, whether that's done in your BIOS (CMOS Setup) or on the motherboard.

Another way would be to put this hard disk on another machine (one that can boot 95) and then apply the patch.
