You don't press and hold F8, you start tapping F8 and keep tapping until the boot selection screen comes up. Then select Safe Mode. When Safe Mode opens, right click My Computer, click Properties, click Device Manager, click the plus by Display Adapter, and then click on the entry that shows immediately under it and click remove. If more than one entry shows, remove them all. Close Device Manager and restart the computer selecting normal mode if the boot selection screen opens. Windows will redetect your Display Adapter and reinstall it with the default settings.
