Question about 'All of my desktop icons just became corrupted - what do I do?'

My problem is .... after positioning the icons on the desktop where I want them,
upon rebooting, all icons snap back to the left side. Some times before the system
even reboots or when I open a program.
Could somebody help me on this ?
