Hi Malcolm:

It sounds like the DISPLAY ADAPTER drivers have
become corrupted.  Is this the original adapter
that was in the computer when your Win95 was first
installed?  (I don't mean the MONITOR itself -- I
mean the display adapter CARD that is in the
computer case.)

If "yes," then Windows may be able to reinstall the
proper video driver from its inventory of built-in
drivers.  You will need your Windows 95
installation CD, unless you have all the Windows
"CAB" files on your hard drive.

If "no," and your display adapter is NEWER than
your edition of Windows, then you may have to
download the proper drivers from an Internet site.
This means you'll need to know the manufacturer
and model of your display adapter.  (There are
software programs that can help determine this.)
