Hi, Jerry,
Thanks for all this - I looked at the PC Card settings and Disable PC card sound
effects is not checked.
I did all you suggested re the Microsoft sound wave. I heard the sound but it played
through Windows media player which automatically opened when I double clicked. Is
this significant??
