Hi Woolly:
Something you said in your last message has been
running through my mind -- the part about the fact
that it played CDs one time while a "jukebox"
program was installed.
What if we tried another CD-PLAYER program other
than the official Windows version?
You might give this one a try:
http://www.cabbala.net/powerplay/
It's called POWERPLAY. I can vouch that it
co-exists perfectly with the Windows CD Player,
and it won't hijack the defaults for CD disks. It
will also UNINSTALL itself cleanly using the
ADD/REMOVE PROGRAM applet. Make sure your PCMCIA
card player is plugged in while POWERPLAY is
installing itself.
After it's installed, start POWERPLAY first, then
put a CD disk into your drive, and see if
POWERPLAY sees it. It works very much like the
Windows CD-PLAYER program.
Good luck.
