I now know why you don't recommend it.. I booted my pc into dos, and from the c:\prompt
, I made a new directory to store dos files typing md dostemp then I copied
dos files to new temp directory by typing cd dos , then I typed copy *.* c:\dostemp.
I changed to windows directory from c:\prompt, I typed cd windows and pressed .
I put the OEM CD windows 98 and it prompted me to close all programs except set up
and I did but to no avail. Any who, when I finally gave up, and rebooted the pc ,
it prompted me that win.com could not be found and for that reason I could not boot
up to windows. Well after several attempts I back tracked all my movements and finally
I got it back to the way it was. But , I'm telling you.. it wasn't easy. Anyway,
I'm going to get quite a few different windows upgrade cd's , since I have quite
a few Pc's and Laptops that are in need of an upgrade. Also, I will be waiting for
the new Microsoft OS "Windows Vista". Well, thanks a lot for your input and talk
to you all later. Thanks! John
