I'd love to tell you that there is a nice freeware/shareware product that will move stuff around to make partitions and you can trust it. The trouble is, there are only commercial products. (Another trouble is I am recommending products I haven't personally used. Keep that in mind.)

A lot of professionals used to swear by Partition Magic but I read the real-life experiences of a pro who swears at it. He has used it for years and recent versions have sometimes erased partitions.

So the current star is:

but that is $69.95. Besides a partitions manager it has a comprehensive multiboot manager which is likely to be overweight for your use. The boot manager that comes with Linux should do everything. There is also a partition manager in Linux but I don't have any knowledge about its recent use. I am personally too cowardly to attempt to do a learning while installing operation.

If you are going to spend $60 as I just sort-of recommended, the smallest, cheapest hard drive that I could find at my local discounter was an 80GB Western Digital drive for $60. Unless you have overheating problems just about the only way a computer can wear out is when the bronze bearing of the hard drive dries up and grinds itself to powder and jams.

Western Digital supplies its DLG partition program. It works easily enough but it destroys any data.

So my solution was, get a new hard drive. Use DLG to create an 8GB partition for Win95. Copy Win95 to that. Load Linux into the other 70GB partition.

(Yes, 70+8 = 80. On a hard drive anyway. Some stuff gets used up as overhead.)

So that's what I perscribe as the most bang for the buck.
