Take it to a computer shop. They have unformatting utilities that can recover what you have destroyed. Bring your Win95 product disc with you. They will probably need that as well to help.

If you have DOS 5 or higher on diskettes you can boot from the first diskette and look for UNFORMAT.EXE. I just checked and it's not on the Win95 CD.

The next time you decide to carry out an option, DOS has a Help system and Windows has Start > Help and almost all DOS programs will explain themselves if you type /? after the name of the program. Indeed, you said you have a book on the subject? Didn't it explain what formatting is?
