These messages confirm "flat battery", that is, the wee 3V lithium cell that maintains
the BIOS info and clock etc. This cell is easily got at on Thinkpads, to find out
how, look at a manual for your model, which is available (for old and current Thinkpads)
via lenovo.com. I've just done this job on a 600X. On most models, the cell comes
in an assembled IBM part which plugs into a wee socket, I levered this apart and
substituted a new cell, and taped it together. Not very elegant. But... it worked.
