If your Win95 installation was on a FAT16 partition, you would want to reformat that
as a FAT32 partition. And then try to install WinME.
But, what is more likely is that...
You may have an Computer Manufacturer's OEM version of WinME. Those came with a slightly
different PRECOPY1.CAB file which checks the Bios on your computer to make sure it
is the same manufacturer's computer. In other words, if the Install files are originally
from a DELL, then they may only work on a DELL. If from a GATEWAY, then they may
only work on GATEWAY computer.
The files that do the bios check are inside the PRECOPY1.CAB installation file.
If you had a PRECOPY1.CAB file from a non-OEM version of WinME install, then it should
work.
